The Beauty of Space: The Chance for Collective Thinking and Connection
When people talk about #innovation, they often focus on #creativity. The big idea. The visionary #leader. The breakthrough moment.
Yet I’ve increasingly come to believe that innovation begins somewhere quieter, much more fundamental: with #connection.
I was reminded of this recently while reading a thought-provoking article about innovation and what really enables it.
The organisations that innovate well aren’t simply filled with clever people. Most #organisations already have plenty of those.
The difference is that people feel safe enough to share #ideas, challenge assumptions, build on one another’s thinking and occasionally take a risk.
And that doesn’t happen overnight.
#Trust isn't something that appears because a #leadership team suddenly announces it! Psychological safety isn't a switch that gets turned on. It develops over time, through conversations, shared experiences, and genuine human connection.
In my work as a leadership #coach, I have noticed that magic comes from creating space.
- Space to listen.
- Space to understand.
- Space to see one another differently.
In that space, something interesting often happens. People begin to #collaborate more openly. New ideas emerge that may never have surfaced otherwise. #Teams become able to see The Possibility.
