Delta Air Lines Hires Heavyweight as Chief Sustainability Officer

For those interested in the question of how to design, organisationally, for #sustainability transition, pay heed to Delta Air Lines’ fresh press release that it has hired Pamela Fletcher as its new Chief Sustainability Officer (CSO).  The appointment of Pamela to the CSO seat is significant, a strong signal of the company's true commitment to #sustainability ambitions.

- Pamela’s profile, with background including divisional appointments as Vice President of #electricvehicles and Unit Chief Engineer within General Motors, demonstrates her laudable #business leadership experiences
- The expertise she brings includes #innovation, reflecting a belief at Delta that Pamela's CSO brief should not be biased on mitigation of risk and 'downside'. Rather, it should incorporate invention, advancement and use of sustainability #transition for positive change
- Her role will be at C-suite level, illustrative of the ‘weightiness’ of and expectations for Pamela's CSO position.

As Delta Chief Executive Officer Ed Bastian said “Bringing in a leader of Pam’s calibre will give Delta the dedicated focus and ambition to lead the industry to a sustainable #future.”
