Going Boldly Where No Man Has Gone Before!: DHL Orders All-Electric, Zero Emissions Planes

It may sound like science fiction -- something straight out of Star Trek – but all-electric #zeroemission cargo planes are absolutely real (nearly, anyway).

Hot off press news from #logistics giant Deutsche Post DHL confirms that #electric cargo planes are indeed on the horizon, and it marks huge progress in the transformation of #transport to become #sustainable.

In a deal with manufacturer Eviation Aircraft , DHL has announced the first ever order for all-electric cargo planes. The Alice Aircraft, so-called by Eviation, is expected to be delivered in 2024.

Omer Bar-Yohay, CEO of Eviation declared that “the electric era is upon us.” And DHL Express’ CEO John Pearson the electrification of every transport mode plays a crucial role and will significantly contribute to our overall #sustainability goal of zero emissions.”

Transport, as a sector, contributes more than 25% to global GHG #emissions, making it front and centre for sustainable development #innovation.
