Leading from the Top: Mondi's NED and Executive Boards Working Together to Chart Sustainability Waters

In 2020, Amazon shipped over 3 billion parcels to our homes. Once opened and discarded, the packaging from these parcels was often found in bins overflowing with an array of delivery detritus. An eyesore on one hand, it nevertheless alerted the public to the potential destructive nature of #packaging.

According to The World Bank, without urgent attention, global #waste is expected to grow to 3.4 billion tonnes by 2050. Packaging is a core feature of that waste.

Mondi Group, one of the world’s largest packaging companies and thus in position to drive systemic change, has just launched its admirable 10-year action plan, MAP2030 where it targets 100% reusable, recyclable or compostable products by 2025. Mondi has also set its stall out to, through #circulareconomy initiatives, reach #netzero waste-to-landfill from manufacturing by 2030.

Over the last year, Mondi's Board created its Sustainable Development Committee to oversee the Mondi’s #sustainability strategy, targets and performance.  Working in concert with the Executive team, these business leaders are effectively charting sustainability waters.
