PepsiCo Creates "Multicultural Business and Equity Development Organisation" to Drive Systems Change

Having set out its “Racial Equality Journey” in 2020 with corresponding commitment of #investment close to $600M to address #diversity, equity and inclusion across its internal and external ecosystem, global #food and beverage company PepsiCo has taken now a further step to champion systems change. The company has created a new business unit in its North American division, the Multicultural Business and #Equity #Development Organisation.

Led by the accomplished Derek Lewis, a 34-year PepsiCo veteran who most recently served as President of PepsiCo Beverages North America’s South Division, the #business unit is dedicated to “accelerating efforts to help address inequalities for historically underserved businesses and communities,” and complements its PepsiCo Positive (pep+) programme which commits to “strategic end-to-end transformation” with #sustainability at the heart of the company.

Citing how PepsiCo’s #leadership views the mission, the importance of the #business unit and the impact the business intends to make both internally and externally in driving #diversityandinclusion transformation, Lewis will report to Kirk Tanner, PepsiCo Beverages North America CEO and Steven Williams, PepsiCo Foods North America CEO.
