Powerlist 2022: Role Models for Us All
For those who haven’t yet seen it, The Powerlist | Powerlist Magazine 2022 has just been issued, and at the top of the list, named as the UK’s most influential black person, is London-born, US-based Jacky Wright, Chief #Digital Officer at Microsoft US.
While her title suggests that hers is a role with US focus, she, in fact, has global reach. As such, her selection by the #UK publication's judging panel for the top spot is fitting.
Nonetheless, Ms. Wright has reflected that she felt there were more opportunities in the US than in the UK. She also cites that she saw more role models and that, too, was a draw: “We’re talking about [former Xerox CEO] Ursula Burns and [Under Armour board member] Jerri DeVard and other women [of color] in senior positions that didn’t exist in the UK.”
Ms. Wright calls out for “monumental shifts” to “ensure Britain is a more equal place to live,” and for, more broadly, there to be more #diversity in the #technology sector.
An annual publication, The Powerlist has been issued for over a decade. Launched in 2007, its aim was as meaningful then as it is now: “to provide professional role models for young people of African and African Caribbean heritage.”
Those on The Powerlist represent role models to all.
