The Evolving Workplace: What's Being Asked of Gen Z?
Very interesting to see Sara Braun’s Fortune article out this week, with statistics that counter the going narrative about #GenZ works and their “eschewing #management as a path to success.”
Indeed, contrary to anecdotal remarks that are thrown about, a whopping 14% of #Gen #Z workers who are 27 years old have reached starry heights of management, “which is either similar or identical to #Millennials (13%), #X Gen (14%) and #Boomers (12%).”
And as the thought piece goes on to say by way of Glassdoor’s Daniel Zhou – and what captured my imagination even more so – is the reality that Gen Z’s are moving into management roles that require a marked increase in #emotionalintelligence skills, with “employee well-being, respecting boundaries, and being #empathetic” being widely talked about now versus even a decade ago.
One wonders whether, in the dynamic world in which we live and work, with sands constantly shifting and #business teams now including #AI, whether these needs will be unmet, met or met differently? And what are the implications for #leadership?
What do you think?
