The Vivienne Foundation Launches, Continuing the Dame Vivienne Westwood Sustainable Fashion Legacy

Dame Vivienne Westwood was a pioneer in #sustainablefashion, a woman who took on the cause long before it was fashionable to do so (pardon the pun). 

A #fashion designer who had a choice to sit back and enjoy proceeds from her label or leverage her position and give voice to create change, Dame Westwood did the latter…and not quietly but, rather, with great zeal as a rebel and activist.

Over the last 24 hours, The Vivienne Foundation, a non-profit first established by Dame Westwood in 2019, has launched. Its mission is built on Dame Westwood’s “four pillar approach to save the #world – halt #climate change, stop war, defend #humanrights and protest #capitalism.” Its aim is to continue the legacy of Dame Westwood’s activism, since her unfortunate death in late December last year.

One wishes well to the Foundation’s and the continued impact of Dame Westwood, living on through this platform, as a torchbearer of #ethicalfashion and #sustainable fashion. One hopes, too, that other fashion #leadership will carry the torch and call out for #systemschange, as activists if not as rebels. 

We can’t all be Dame Westwoods. But we can all do our part and create a better, sustainable #future.
