Unconventional Ventures (UV) Champions Unconventional Founders

Great to see the news that Danish #investment firm Unconventional Ventures (UV) – with its mission to “get more money into the pockets of unconventional founders” -- has raised a new €30 million fund.

As reported by Sifted’s Amy O’Brien, the UV fund focus will be to invest in #Europe-based businesses which have founders from underrepresented communities, in particular #women, #LGBTQ+, people of colour, immigrants, and others not in the majority.

Over the last few years, UV’s impressive leaders Thea Messel and Nora Bavey noted the dearth of funding going to #business in the Nordics from these underrepresented segments and their findings illuminated that a whopping “92% of #capital invested in Nordic #startups goes to all-male founding teams.” They decided to address that with their skill and their will.
