Why 'The Conversation' Really Matters!

One question has stayed with me this week. A recent Harvard Business Review thought piece prompted it.

What if the #organisation you think you’re leading isn’t the organisation your people are experiencing?

In my experience, the gap is rarely created by bad people with poor intentions.

Rather, it’s shaped quietly by #culture, incentives and the messages people receive about what success looks like.

Over time, uncomfortable truths are softened. Challenges are delicately packaged. Reality becomes carefully curated.

Of course #leaders have to set direction, deliver outcomes and meet the expectations of #stakeholders.

Perhaps what distinguishes organisations that sustain their #impact is this: leaders create an #environment where people feel able to tell them what they need to hear, not simply what they think they want to hear.

Where the goal isn’t simply to find better answers. It’s to create better #conversations.

Because the conversations we avoid are often the ones that matter most.
