The Concept of Minimalist Leadership
‘Minimalist #leadership?’ There’s a concept that captured my attention, and one I was curious to explore further when I happened upon Frank Martela’s #employee #engagement thought piece.
Far easier said than done, the philosophy, boiled down by former Nokia President Matti Alahuhta, relies on the #leader to “set the direction [and, then,] work very, very hard in order to engage everyone.”
As an organisational #coach, I was drawn to Martela’s leadership pointers of “[replacing] control with #trust,” along with the piquant “teaching #employees to think like a CEO.”
Trust is a cornerstone of #empowerment, and when leaders have it in them to bestow trust and stimulate individuals, teams and the organisation as a whole to see The Possibility, the cards are far more stacked in favour of the organisation to be bold, #innovative, energised and to flourish.
All this begs a question as we take the leap into 2024: what new #leadership approach might be worth your trying on and stretching yourself with, as you consider the #future you want to build and be part of?
